Collective Technologies at Genentech
My next client for Collective
Technologies was Genentech,
Inc. Genentech, Inc. is a leading biotechnology company using
human genetic information to develop, manufacture and market
pharmaceuticals that address significant unmet medical needs.
Genentech commits itself to the highest standards of integrity in
contributing to the best interests of patients, the medical profession
and its employees, and to seeking significant returns to its
stockholders based on the continued pursuit of excellent science.
The company has headquarters in South San Francisco and is traded
on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol DNA.
My tasks there included:
- ClearCase Administrator — I administered the 45
VOBs in use within the 2 ClearCase regions in the Medical
Affairs group and provided technical support on the ClearCase
and Attache products used by the developers on the Unix, Windows
98, and Windows NT platforms.
- Release Engineer — I provided release engineering
support to the Medical Affairs' software developers and assisted
in the creation of standard operating procedures (SOP) documents.
This included creating and editing makefiles as well as importing
code into the VOBs, building applications, moving code archives
from build servers to install servers, and installing and
configuring custom applications.
