	A History of MTS: 30 Years of Computing Service--A detailed history on the creation and propagation of MTS as an operating system.
	Time Line--A time line of the major milestones in MTS' history.
	Anecdotes--Some anecdotes about MTS, either amusing easter eggs in the system or funny reminiscences from MTS users.
	Merit--A brief synopsis of how MTS led to the creation of the Merit network, which eventually became part of NSFNet and is a precursor to the Internet.

Much of this information is U-M centric, though a lot of development work also took place at other MTS Consortium universities, such as the PLUS language, Command Language Parser (CLParser), and the Resource Manager (RM) system (which was a complete replacement for the older Houston Automatic Spooling Program (HASP)) which were developed at the University of British Columbia.

As of November 2010, a team of MTS developers are working to make MTS open source. This requires getting permission from a number of people and organizations that have software that is part of MTS, or removing their code from it. As of December 2011, a team of MTS developers succeeded in making the MTS Distribution materials freely available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License (CC BY 3.0).
